About the Author

John Kinyon grew up in the heartland of southern Iowa. The adventure, excitement, and mischief that were lived out on a small rural acreage developed into the treasure chest of stories and homespun tales that can only be found in a young boy’s heart. As an adult, revisiting that magical boundary that teeters somewhere between lively imagination and the mystery of the hidden helps him recall the important role that believing in the unseen has played in his own life.

John loves teaching and sharing the excitement of helping others find the stories, often tucked deep in memory, and bringing them to life. Whether it is the second graders he is teaching in northwest Arkansas or an audience “young at heart,” helping would-be writers find the methods, tools, and emotional energy to breathe them to life is his joy. This becomes evident when you hear his passion as he tells of his own.
